Why I Ride ...
This will be my seventh PMC! In my previous six rides, I raised almost $33,000 for DFCI and the Jimmy Fund, and I can't thank you all enough for your support. This year, I need to raise $4300, but I'm going to shoot for $5000 again. Matt and I are back on Team Sara G, along with returning teammate Rich Fields and new teammate Darren Braham. I began doing the PMC after the younger brother of a good friend of mine was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. He was treated at Dana Farber, and is still doing well. Four years ago, Sara G was diagnosed with a rare form of ovarian cancer, and she beat it! Three years ago, my grandma was diagnosed with and was winning the battle against breast cancer. Unfortunately, after toughing it out it through surgery and radiation, she passed away two years ago from a completely unrelated ailment. I have other friends and family who have been diagnosed with cancer and are still alive today thanks to the kinds of research done at DFCI and the Jimmy Fund. Sadly, I also know people (I'm sure you do, too) who were not able to fight the disease.
The ride has raised over $330 million over 33 years, and this year hopes to raise another $36 million. I know it might be another tough year, but literally any donation is incredibly helpful, and they add up really fast!
