Jennie Thomas's Ride
Why I Ride ...
PMC 2010: Welcome to my Pan Mass Challenge profile page! This year marks my 11th anniversary of involvement with the PMC.
As you may know, the PMC is an extraordinary organization that raises
funds for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston and I am once
again helping to raise funds for this worthy cause.
I was hoping to be able to do the ride this year, but this winter I was diagnosed with a torn labrum in my right hip. I have been going through physical therapy to strengthen my core and have been doing some cycling, but I find that right now I just can't do the mileage or the intensity that I need to do in order to train for the PMC. I'm hopeful I'll be able to ride next year. However, I am very devoted to this cause and so I have signed up as a "virtual rider" which allows me to help raise funds for the PMC and I've signed up to volunteer both pre-event and during the event.
It seems as if on a weekly if not a daily basis I hear story of someone who has struggled with or is currently struggling with this terrible disease. I have personally known people who have struggled and fought cancer and others who unfortunately lost the battle. I know that everyone has a story about or connection with cancer and I hope that someday through all our efforts these stories will be a distant memory. I am involved with the PMC each year in honor of all those fighting cancer and in memory of those who lost the battle. Please help me to raise funds so that research and support for cancer and cancer patients can continue. Last year's PMC gift to the Dana Farber represented 100 percent of every rider-raised dollar so you can be assured that your contribution will be used for cancer research and care for cancer patients. I hope that you will join me in helping to raise funds to fight cancer by making a donation. There are 3 easy ways to donate: 1. Click on the big box below that says "Donate to my ride". 2. Send me a check made out to the PMC. 3. Request (from me) a credit card slip that I can send you via the mail which you return to me for sending to the PMC. Thank you for your support! <>Jennie
