Why I Ride ...

June 2010:
 
"For Charlotte."  Two simple words that mean everything in this year's ride.  We have all lost too many friends and family to count, and we know so many more who continue to fight the good fight despite the terrible odds.  Charlotte O'Shea is our Pedal Partner this year and is but 6 years old.  6 years old and battling cancer with a smile, day after day after day after day.  She is such an inspiration, yet she deserves so much better.  With the generosity of so many and the power of the PanMass Challenge, we hope to someday give the Charlottes of the world a fighting chance to live the long and fruitful lives they so richly deserve.
 
Of course I ride for others as well.  I began to ride in this wonderful event several years ago after losing my Mother quite suddenly to inflammatory breast cancer.  And today two family members continue to deal with this disease with incredible strength and great humor.  We love you Dick and Stan!!  You continue to inspire us all!!  

 Sadly I have recently learned that my little friend, Clayton Ferris, for whom I rode last year, has succumbed to cancer without having reached his 5th birthday.  With your help we hope that others, like Charlotte, will be given the greater gift of life.
