Jennifer Morrison's Ride
Why I Ride ...
While on a recent training ride, I saw a couple of riders ahead of me that seemed to be forming a protective barrier around another rider. Curious to see what they were protecting, I sped up to them. When I reached the group, I saw that they had created the barrier around a little girl, maybe 10 years old, that had Down Syndrome. She was so proud riding her bike and had a smile on her face that would melt your heart. It's funny how one moment in life can stay with you and be a reminder of what is real and important. Last year I lost my Uncle Gerry, also with Down Syndrome, to cancer. I ride in memory of Gerry, my mother and all those that I know and love that are affected by this disease. I know that we all ride to find a cure so that every little kid can ride their bikes - free of the pain that this disease causes - with smiles on their faces.
