John Maslowski's Ride

Why I Ride ...

Hello All,

Team Vanderbilt recently finished the 31st Annual Pan Mass Challenge ("PMC") which took place this year on August 7th and 8th.  As you may recall, the PMC is the largest, most successful athletic-based fundraising event in the world and involves a grueling 192-mile bike race across the state of Massachusetts for the benefit of the "Jimmy Fund" at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Last year’s 30th Anniversary PMC was a tremendous success in a very difficult economic environment and resulted in a contribution of just over $30 million to the Jimmy Fund, bringing cumulative contributions since 1980 to $270 million! (No…that is not a typo!)  For the third straight year, 100% of every dollar raised last year by the PMC made its way to the coffers at the Jimmy Fund, a remarkable achievement unmatched by any other large charitable organization. Through your generosity, Team Vanderbilt raised $69,000 last year bringing our 8-year total to $556,500. This year we have 10 riders and hope to bring our cumulative contribution well past the $600K level. We hope you will help us achieve that goal!
