Jeff Linder's Ride
This year's ride has taken on added urgency as my mother-in-law, Adele, was diagnosed in February with breast cancer. She has undergone 16 weeks of chemotherapy before surgery in August.
As with last year, I'm putting my money where my bicycle is. With this matching program, you can make me pay to ride my bike*:
- If you gave last year, I will match each additional dollar you give over last year's contribution.
- If you are a new donor, I will match each dollar over $50 that you give.
I am again honored to be riding with Team Kermit. Steve, Ellen, Adam, and Jared Branfman, along with friends, formed Team Kermit after Jared was diagnosed with spinal and cranial tumors in 2003. Jared worked as a volunteer for the Pan Mass Challenge in 2004 and 2005 and was getting set to ride in 2006. Jared died September 27, 2005. He was 23 years old.
Kermit, one of Jared's favorite childhood characters, represents the ability people have to rise above the ordinary to achieve great results. Team Kermit is raising money for the Jared Branfman Sunflowers for Life Fund for Pediatric Brain and Spinal Cancer Research at the Jimmy Fund, which supports the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
Thank you for your generous support.

PS Sam and Daniel, ages 9 and 7, did the Newton-Needham PMC Kids Ride on June 21, 2009. Their donation pages are available here and pictures of the event are available here.
*Up to $750. (Idea stolen from Cliff Brown. In 2008, I contributed the full $750.)
