Jordan Dargon's Ride
Why I Ride ...
Hello!
First and foremost, thank you for visiting my PMC site! For those of you who are unfamiliar, here's a little run down on what the PMC is all about:
The Pan-Mass Challenge is a two day 192 mile bike-a-thon from Sturbridge, MA to Provincetown, MA. The PMC raises money for life-saving cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through the Jimmy Fund. With 100% of each dollar raised going directly to the Jimmy Fund, the PMC has contributed more than $270 million to lifesaving cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute since its 1980 inception. Last year alone, the PMC gave $30 million to the Jimmy Fund and this year's goal will be to surpass that amount.
August 7th & 8th will mark my fourth year riding in the PMC. Over the last few years I've had the privilege to ride with family, friends, teammates and have met many amazing people along the way. Everyone has their special motivation to ride, and the fundraising aids a cause that everyone can believe in. By now, I would be hard pressed to find anyone who has not been affected by cancer, and my family is no different. Since my last ride in 2009, my Uncle Dan lost his 4 year battle to colon cancer, and my Mom endured and completed her treatments for breast cancer. Cancer is something that impacts all of our lives, and through the PMC we have an opportunity to help make a difference.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my site. I appreciate your support, encouragement and financial contributions for this tremendously worthwhile cause.
