Jay Caruso's Ride

Why I Ride ...

It's often said that all you can hope for in life is to have happy and healthy children.  My wife Jane and I have been blessed with two beautiful children, Della(6) and Avery(4), both very happy and healthy. In June 2005, we hugged them harder and held them closer than ever before.

Our very close friends, Jeff and Megan were dealt a significant blow.  Their 3-year old very happy and seemingly healthy son, Luca, was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer called Medulloblastoma.  Within six short grueling months, Luca battled his cancer mightily and eventually succumbed to the disease on June 29, 2005.

Through Luca's energetic spirit and his parents eternal strength, I have devoted much of my time and focus on helping to fight this terrible disease.  I have once again joined a 17-member team of friends("Team Luca"), as we have committed ourselves to the Pan Mass Challenge. On August 1st-2nd we will bike 192 miles from Sturbridge to Provincetown, Massachusetts. All Team Luca funds will be specifically earmarked within The Jimmy Fund for pediatric brain tumor research. I truly believe that we can all make a difference in other people's lives if we work together.  Thank you very much for your consideration in helping us with this great fundraising effort.

Sincerely,
Jay Caruso
