Jeff Cardini's Ride
Why I Ride ...
Hi Everyone, (old friends and new alike) & welcome to my fundrasing site for the PMC!!! I hope that as you read this profile you are in good health and enjoying an exciting 2009.
For those of you who I see regularly, or have seen recently, you may know that for the last few years I have been involved in riding the Pan Mass Challenge to raise money for childhood cancers on Team Pedals for Pediatrics.
To those of you not familiar with the Pan Mass Challenge (PMC) and Team Pedals for Pediatrics please read on.
The Pan-Mass Challenge, an annual bike-a-thon, is a pioneer of the athletic fundraising industry and today raises more money for charity than any other single event in the country. This summer, myself and 5,000-plus other cyclists will commit to raising between $500 and $4,200 for the privilege of being a member of the PMC team and riding our bikes 192 miles to Provincetown, MA.
In 2008, the PMC raised $35 million. The organization was founded in 1980 and it has raised nearly $240 million for cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through its Jimmy Fund. The PMC is a model of fundraising efficiency. In 2008, the PMC donated 100 percent of every rider-raised dollar directly to the cause.
As a career pediatric oncology nurse, it seems only fitting that I ride for a team named Team Pedals for Pediatrics. The team was formed in 2004 as a team of cyclists and volunteers brought together through associations with Children's Hospital Boston, the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and participation in this fantastic and inspiring event.
The team's mission is to provide support to patients and families within Dana-Farber/Children's Hospital Boston Cancer Care through raising dollars for program funding, direct financial assistance, and research.
The Team Pedals for Pediatrics Mission Statement: To ease the burden of childhood cancer with every mile ridden and every dollar raised. To date we have raised nearly $600,000 towards our mission. We have been a very successful team by any measure.

My involvement in the PMC means a great deal to me both personally and professionally bringing with it a great sense of pride and accomplishment. By donating you are contributing to a tremendous event and an even greater cause. I hope that you are able to feel some of the same pride I feel each August when we set off toward P-Town.
Thanks for visiting my site and most of all thank you for your support.
