Ian ONeal's Ride
Why I Ride ...
Hi Everyone,
This summer, on August 1st and 2nd, I will be participating in my second Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC).
Founded in 1980, the PMC is the nation's original fundraising bike-a-thon and today raises more money than any other athletic fundraising event in the country. The race takes place over two days, and spans 192 miles from Sturbridge to Provincetown in Massachusetts. Last year, over 5,000 cyclists contributed $35 million to the Jimmy Fund. The PMC has contributed more than $239 million to lifesaving cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute since its inception. The 2009 goal is to raise $30 million, commemorating the 30th Anniversary of the ride. This is why I'm asking for your help.
In these tough economic times it is more important than ever to remember our responsibility to help those less fortunate and support charitable causes such as the PMC. The fundraising minimum for each rider this year is $3,400, and I am trying to meet my fundraising goals by the end of June.
You can donate by either mailing me a check made out the "Pan Mass Challenge" or by using a credit card online. Simply log on to: https://www.pmc.org/egifts/giftinfo .asp?EgiftID=IO0002
Many companies also have matching donations programs that may be an option for you too. Please know that no donation is too small, and all will be greatly appreciated!
Remember that all donations to the PMC are tax deductible.
I truly believe somewhere along the road between Sturbridge and Provincetown lies a cure for cancer. You can help us find it.
Thank you very much for all your support.
