Gregory Buchanan's Ride
Why I Ride ...
Greetings folks! PMC 2005 is underway.
On Aug. 6th and 7th I will be riding in my 6th Pan-Massachusetts Challenge (PMC), in an effort to raise money for the Jimmy Fund at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. My ride is dedicated to those listed below and others that have fought and continue to struggle with this disease. Some have lost while others have won. My friend and teamate Patty "TC" Saganey will be celebrating her 3rd year of survivorship on August 2nd. This will be Patty's 3rd year riding and she serves as a testament to the work performed at the Dana Farber and the power of the human spirit.
I have been touched by cancer. I'm sure you have been too.
The picture to the left was taken of me during last years ride around 5:30 Sunday morning while I crossed the Bourne bridge.
Thanks to everyone who have supported me both financially and spiritually these past six years. Since my first ride I have raised $19,384.97.
By now most of you know that during last years ride I crashed 30 miles from the finish and broke my bike. Having to finish in a van with people that had suffered injuries was no fun but as one women said to me, " at least it isn't chemo." How true, and for that I am thankful.
If you look at "my gallery" you will see that my jersey has names written on it. These are the names of my friends and family as well as the names of my donors friends and families that have fought this disease. Please send me a note if you would like for me to include someone on my jersey.
I am riding for:
Irene Carlson
Carole Youngman
Patti Saganey
Theresa Haley
David Drummond
Clara Blanch
Stan Page
Frances Davison
Margaret Shickle
Cecelia Griffiths
Donald "Barney" Bilotas
Edith O'Sullivan
Carol Blute
Sam Melville
Marion McEttrick
Mary Ellen Gardiner
Francis Rimbach
Paula Serra
Tony LaConte
Mr. Grahm
Thanks,
Greg
