Erich Whitney's Ride

Why I Ride ...

I have seen too many friends and family members touched by cancer. Getting on a bike and riding 200 miles is nothing compared with the challenges that cancer victims and survivors face. Taking part in this incredible journey is just my way of trying to help others.

I am riding again in 2011 and this time I have added the personal challenge to lose a significant amount of weight so that I can be healthier and ride more comfortably.  I pledged to my family, friends, and teammates that I would lose at least 50 pounds between August 2010 and August 2011.  I am happy to report that as of July 2011 I have lost over 50 pounds and I'm feeling great!

In addition to keeping the memory of those who we have lost to cancer in our hearts as we undertake the Pan Mass Challenge, I would like to add that we are keeping Nicholas Payne, our pedal partner, in our thoughts and prayers as he continues his own battle with this horrific disease.
