Eric Rimm's Ride

Why I Ride ...

Update July 20 -

Thank you all for your generosity -  I will donate my $1000 matching funds.  Now I can shoot for raising more than my $10,000 from last year.

July 1 -

As most of you know, last year I rode the 192 mile 2-day Pass Mass Challenge to honor my brother-in-law Alan Rimm-Kaufman and to honor the Farber, the institution that kept him alive for 9 extra years.  Below is a picture from the second day last year when Sara (my sister and Alan’s wife), her family, and Alan’s family greeted me halfway to Provincetown.  What an honor and a privilege to be part of this incredible weekend.  5,000 bikers doing the right thing.  Thousands of onlookers and volunteers along the route cheering and encouraging us along made it possible.   Thanks to all of you I raised >$10,000.

Once again this year I have been training to take the challenge and honor the institution, Alan, and many others that are touched by cancer.  For the last many years I supported the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute by sponsoring others who rode in the Pan Mass Challenge.  It is now even more fulfilling to be part of the experience.

A friend of mine started a team of riders several years ago after his son passed away from a brain tumor.   His Kermit team has helped to inspire us all (not to mention has been instrumental in getting me on the road).  This year I will join team Kermit again and start the adventure in Boston on Friday August 5th (the day before the official ride) and ride an extra 70+ miles out to the start in Sturbridge MA and then take the 192 mile ride back to Provincetown on Cape Cod August 6-7th.

To be part of this ride, I need to raise a minimum of $4300 for the Dana Farber Cancer Institute.  The funds raised will go to cancer research and patient care so that the next “Alan” can be cured or at least live a much longer life.  I know that you will help me reach this goal.

To encourage everybody, I will match all donations after the total hits $3,000 (up to my goal of $5000).

Thank you - with love,

Eric
