Eric Rosow's Ride
Why I Ride ...
As some of you already know, on August 1st I will be participating in the Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC), a cycling event that raises money for The Jimmy Fund, the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's outreach arm. For more than 50 years, Dana-Farber has been at the forefront of cancer treatment and research and has contributed to many of the most important advances in fighting cancer.
This year, the PMC is expected to raise more than $34 million for cancer research through this single event. The Pan Mass Challenge is the single largest fundraiser for the Jimmy Fund and Dana-Farber and is the largest athletic fundraising event in the country. 99% of donations are given to Dana-Farber. (More information about PMC, the Jimmy Fund, and Dana-Farber is available at www.pmc.org.)
This will be my second year participating in the PMC. I do this ride to honor those who've battled cancer (or are currently battling it), and to help raise money for the Dana Farber
Cancer Institute. Last year's event had
over 5,300 riders, 2,500 volunteers and 157,000 contributors. It was an incredible experience. I was part of a 4 person team ("Team Freeman", photo below) that raised over $50,000. Sadly, Bob Freeman passed away since last year's event, and this year's
team has grown to over 30 riders that ride for the cause and in Bob's memory and honor.
I'm asking friends and family for their support. I'll do the riding -- all you have to do is contribute to my fundraising effort! Donations can be made in two ways. First, and easiest, is you can take the following link -- http://www.pmc.org/egifts/ER0068 and
make a donation by credit card. If you
prefer, you can also contribute the old-fashioned way and mail me a check payable to "PMC/Jimmy Fund" (5 White Oak Lane, Avon, CT 06001). All donations are tax-deductible.
Thank you so much for your support.
Eric
