Ed Parish's Ride
Why I Ride ...
2011 will be my 24th year in the PMC!
The picture now shown here is from the start of the 2009 PMC!
Why make a contribution? Cancer research is making great strides and the money raised by the PMC is not restricted as are most government grants. This allows the Dana Farber to do new research not allowed before. But more research still needs to be done and new cures need to be found.
When I sent out my email letters last summer, one bounced. It was to a friend and former co-worker who was battling cancer. Sadly, he had lost his battle with cancer. I am not riding this year due to injuries and too much work with not enough time to train, so I am volunteering all weekend. During the PMC last year (2010), I received an email from the wife of a former co-worker. She let everyone know that her husband wasn't doing well and his cancer has spread. On Sunday afternoon of the 2010 PMC, he passed away. Those are two reasons to support the PMC and research at the DFCI.
This is my 24th year that I have been involved with the PMC. There have been many remarkable breakthroughs in research these past few years and many would not be possible without the work of the Pan Mass Challenge. A lot has changed over the years, but the goal still remains the same, finding a cure for cancer.
