David Katz's Ride
Why I Ride ...
Why does the PMC deserve your support? Here are five good reasons:
5. 100% of the money raised goes directly to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and is used to fund research that wouldn't be possible otherwise. This is an unbelievable stat: no other charitable organization is able to operate so efficiently. Amazing!
4. The PMC is the most successful athletic fundraiser in the country. This year's goal is $34 million, and the PMC is Dana-Farber's single largest contributor. Dr. Edward Benz, President of Dana-Farber, says "When they write the history of how cancer was conquered, the PMC will be in chapter one.”
3. I ride for my dad's brother, my oldest friend's mom, a good friend's daughter, my grandparents, and other friends and family on each year's ride. What better way to honor them than to help fight the battle to cure cancer? The event is incredibly joyful and inspiring. There are hundreds of cancer survivors riding in the event, and it's impossible not to be humbled by the magnitude of everyone's stories.
2. My team and I go the extra mile. Actually, an extra 100 miles. While the PMC is a ~200 miles, my team annually adds an extra 100 miles by riding from the New York state border to Sturbridge the day before the PMC start, making the event a true pan-Massachusetts challenge.
1. I really need your help! I've made a significant commitment to raising money, and your support is critical. It's tax-deductible, of course.
You can contribute in a number of ways, and your contribution is much appreciated. Here's how:
- Submit a credit card contribution on the PMC's secure website at http://www.pmc.org/profile/DK0085
- Or send a check (made out to "PMC - Jimmy Fund," with my name in the Memo field) to me at: 7 Rose Lane, Westford, MA 01886
Thanks for considering it. I hope you view the PMC a worthy investment in a cure.
