Why I Ride ...

January 2012

Why do I ride you ask?  There are far too many reasons why I ride.

It all started many years ago when my grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer, than my mother with 4 different types of cancer over a thirteen year period of time.  There was the brother of a childhood friend, cut down in the middle of his youth and athletic prime.  The there were in-laws and friends diagnosed with breast cancer and than there was the young daughter of a client who died at the age of 12 after galliantly fighting.  Then it was the mothers of school friends of my oldest daughter who each fought breast cancer.  Then it was a Team FORZA-G teammate who fought cancer a second time.  Then in the last 6 months I have had 3 friends and one relative diagnosed with cancer, 2 breast, one colon and one lung.  I don't know about you, but I am getting tired of this.  It needs to stop!

We need to raise money for research and development to find treatments and a cure for this stupid disease.  The good news is that every day we are finding new and innovative ways to fight cancer and in many cases, win.  The bad news is that we are not winning enough battles and cancer is still out there.

Its funny, when I tell people that I ride a bike for 3 days and cover 300 miles people think thats tough.  Thats not tough...fighting cancer, thats tough.  Sitting on my bike, I have it easy.  But, I need your help!  I will donate the time and the sweat equity to help find a cure and I am asking you to donate the money.  Every little bit helps.  If you feel that you can only contribute $50 but wish you could do more, maybe you can.  Ask your employer if they match charitable donations, many do.  If your employer matches, than you can do more..submit a matching request.

Last year, my team raised over $250,000 and last year all the riders in the PMC raised $34MM.....but we need more.  Please donate and help.

Thank You
