Why I Ride ...

Hi,
This year I will be participating in the Pan-Mass Challenge.  It is a 198-mile, 2-day bike ride from Sturbridge to Provincetown, MA.  This is my fourth year riding.

I started riding to honor my father-law, Peter Burnham and my husband's cousin and godfather, Hugh Jessop both of whom passed away from cancer within 6 months of each other.  Both were sudden and unexpected.  Participating in the PMC made me feel like I was doing something in the face of my recent hopeless situations.  That year I met Max, my PMC team's Pedal Partner. He was three and starting to come back strong from the treatment of his brain tumors.  The PMC ride had such a profound experience, beyond anything I could have imagined.

I rode for 2 more years, loving the experience.  Hot, sweaty, tired, sore butt, emotional and wonderful.

My daughter and I continue to have a strong connection with Max.  We stay in touch via Facebook and TS is so happy to see Max's growth all the time.

This year I ride in honor of some wonderful women I have had the pleasure of training in Pilates.  To see their progress, amazes me.  I am so honored and thankful that I can help these women who have gone through so much and now I can help them do something like put their coats on a little easier, which was something they struggled with in the past

I am committed to raise $4200 for Dana Farber and all the amazing work that they do every day to bring us all closer to a cure.

I know times are tough and I know there are many worthy causes, so any contriubution helps. Anything from $10 up gets me closer and here's how you can help:

1) Go to my page and donate with a credit card:  http://www.pmc.org/egifts/CB0205
2) Send me a check (made payable to PMC or the Jimmy Fund) 74 Langsford Street, Gloucester, MA 01930
3) Text to Give to My Ride: You can now text PMC CB0205 to 20222 to donate $10 to my ride. You must reply "Yes" to the confirmation text message and their donation will appear with their phone number in the sponsor section of my MyPMC page. You can give up to four more times with the same phone number....it was good enough for Haiti, so it's good enough for PMC!

To everyone who has donated in the past and to everyone who can donate this year - thank you.

Don't forget to follow my ride on Facebook starting Friday night, August 5th at the opening ceremonies, through Sunday on the ferry home!
Thank you again!
