Craig Beauregard's Ride
Why I Ride ...
Welcome friends! Thank you for visiting my portion of the Pan Mass Challenge web site. First of all, to those that have supported me in the past, I cannot say "THANK YOU" enough. You are the wind at my back!
The 2012 PMC will be my 11th ride since we learned that our close friends, Glenn and Pam Johnson's son Kyle had been diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2000. For the next year we watched as this heroic boy and his family fought the disease. On July 5, 2001, Kyle sadly lost his battle. The photo to the left is Kyle at his 8th birthday, just over 1 year before he lost his fight.
If you don't feel like reading my long-winded story, I invite you to click on the "Photos" link to the left. That's why I ride. In the words of Lance Armstrong, "It's not about the bike."
When I started doing charity rides in Kyles honor I looked at the Pan Mass ride as something only a masochist would do. Those of you that know me know that I have never been much of an excercise fanatic! However, after seeing the courage and strength that Kyle had, I figured I could do almost anything to help this cause - so I ride.
As time has passed, the sadness of his illness has been slowly replaced with the joy of having known Kyle. The memory of his bright eyes, his mischevious smile, and his timely, "How about a Fresca?" at our cookouts will always bring a smile to my face. For me, this is not a ride of saddness, but a ride of hope. The thought that the money raised might find a cure keeps me riding. Every time I ride and I feel the wind at my back I know that Kyle is helping to push me home! Kyle, I know you're watching. You keep pushing and I'll keep riding, together we can help beat this! We love and miss you!
All donations, large and small, are greatly appreciated. There are 2 ways to donate; (1) you can make a check out to "PMC" and mail it to me at:
