The mission of the PMC-to raise money for life-saving cancer research and treatment-is as important as ever.  The event has raised $270 million since 1980 and 100% of the funds raised go directly to The Jimmy Fund.  This reflects the incredible generosity of corporate vendors and others who underwrite the expenses of feeding, sheltering and caring for the 5,000 riders and 2,000 volunteers that make the PMC weekend an indescribably magnificent experience. 

 Barring some fundraising catastrophe, in 2010 I will pass the $250,000 mark in total fundraising for the PMC. Over 30 years, only 62 other people have reached this milestone.  This will place me in the all time top 0.333% of fundraisers for the PMC…if only my net worth was in the same echelon. 

 Needless to say, my success in this endeavor is, has been and will continue to always be, entirely due to your generosity…and my legs.  THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! 

 As always I hope the combination of helping a great cause and the fact you are making me pay to ride 200 miles regardless of weather conditions, road hazards and various aches and pains will inspire you to make large 100% tax-deductible donations to show your encouragement of my efforts. And remember, I will pledge $0.50 for every dollar you pledge over your contribution level of last year.  If you are a new donor, I will match your pledge dollar for dollar above a $100 minimum.

 No excuses from me this year about having injuries or being just plain out of shape (though I do and I am).  I’m getting back to the glory days of, um, 2006 and I know that your good wishes, encouragement and donations will only make that effort easier.  With your generous help my 12th PMC will be another memorable occasion and a successful contribution to the fight against cancer.
