Why I Ride ...
Here is my team riding into P-Town together as we always do to finish the 192 miles. This was my 5th ride that I have now completed and can not wait until the next one in 2010. At my young age of 43, I have known too many people with cancer and some even younger than me!
This year is a special ride....I am riding for a little girl, Charlotte O'Shea. Charlotte just turned 6 years old on April 1sr and just finished up another heavy week of chemo. Charlotte is an incredible little girl with the strength and determination and a heart bigger than this world. Charlotte has a rare, aggressive brain tumor known as atypical teratoid rhabdoid tumor (AT/RT).

This year, my team, "Lick Cancer" has redirected the funds that we raise and direct it to this specific Cancer research. Our Team last year was able to raise over $170,000, that is just our team alone. In all the PMC will raise over 30 Million dollars.

The Pan Mass Challenge is excatly that, a challenge. Anyone that knows me, knows that I am not built like Lance Armstrong. But I knew in heart that I could do something like this especially for a great cause. I train for several months, riding to work a few days, the long rides on the weekends. But something I could never train for was the day I arrived in Sturbridge. The opening ceremony, the stories of cancer survivors, the familes involved and especially the Kids. This is what got me through my ride, was families on every street, avenue, lane and corners holding up signs thanking me. Never in my wildest dreams did I expect this, they were thanking me for riding for them. Yelling out at the top of their lungs cheering me on. Holding signs, playing music and anything they could do to motivate you. I tear up just thinking about it. It is a very emotional ride and I realized that no matter how I felt during this ride, nothing could compare to what all these families, friends and kids are going through. I am officially a Pan Mass rider for LIFE!
