Andrew Steinhouse's Ride
Why I Ride ...
For the Third year in a row, I have pledged to ride a bike clear across
The PMC is the single largest donor to the Jimmy Fund which supports Cancer research and treatment at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
PMC cyclists have raised more than $200 million; crucial funds that have improved the lives of cancer patients and their loved ones around the globe.
Last year the PMC raised over $30 million - unprecedented for a "Bike-A-Thon". Year after year, the PMC is the single largest contributor to the Jimmy fund and makes up more than half of the Dana Farber budget.
As many of you know, bicycles are a huge part of my life. I ride five of them - each has a specialty, including one that basically only goes to the burrito shop and back! As such, I am adding once again to the PMC ride to express my dedication to your support. The PMC officially starts on August 1st and my route is a 2 day 192 mile ride. My club (or "gang" as some know us) The Crack O' Dawn Riders , will start in Stockbridge on July 30th and ride 100 miles to the start of the PMC in Sturbridge. As usual, we'll find a way to meander another 8 miles and make it an even 300 miles in three days.
I am once again directing all the funds I raise to Caring for Carcinoid. The Caring for Carcinoid Foundation (CFCF) is the leading nonprofit dedicated to discovering a cure for carcinoid cancer. Carcinoid is a rare, deadly neuroendocrine cancer that currently has no cure. Your support will go towards cutting edge research of carcinoid and neuroendocrine tumors. You can find out more about Carcinoid by visiting the Caring for Carcinoid website .
This year's PMC goal is $35 million. I have personally pledged to guarantee $4000 to the ride. Neither the Jimmy Fund nor I can do it without your help.
Thank You!
