Last year, seven people in my life succumbed to cancer, all much too young. This is unacceptable and fuels my efforts in this year's Pan Mass Challenge, my 19th. Thankfully, there are people around me that have and are surviving their battles with cancer. Declan, my daughter and son-in-law's nephew continues to grow and thrive and be disease free. I dedicate this year's ride to Declan, to the other people in your and my life and the 28 million around the world that face the challenge of this disease.

Yes, they face their part of the challenge. The Pan Mass Challenge is actually an accumulation of many challenges. Other include the doctors, researchers and staff of the Dana Farber Cancer Research Institute who have the challenge of healing and finding cures. My challenge is to train, ride and fund raise. Your challenge, the most important, is to make a generous contribution in support of the others.
