Mark Your Calendars! - #PMC2014

The countdown to registration for the 35th annual Pan-Mass Challenge has begun

As the New Year approaches, it’s time to start spinning your wheels into PMC gear. Registration for the 35th annual Pan-Mass Challenge, set for August 2 and 3, 2014, will open in January. For a list of specific dates that apply, please see below:

January 3: Registration opens for PMC Heavy Hitters

January 9: Registration opens for PMC Alumni

January 15: Registration opens for the general public

The PMC is an annual bike-a-thon that raises money to support adult and pediatric patient care and cancer research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through the Jimmy Fund. The two-day weekend event is a fully supported bike-a-thon that takes cyclists through 46 cities and towns across the Commonwealth.

In 2014, more than 5,500 cyclists, representing 38 states and five countries, will ride one of 13 routes that range from 25 miles to 190 miles to raise $40 million bringing the PMC’s 35-year Jimmy Fund contribution to $454 million. One hundred percent of every rider-raised dollar goes directly to the Jimmy Fund. In 2013, the PMC generated more than half of the Jimmy Fund’s annual revenue. It is Dana-Farber’s single largest contributor.

Known as “seed money,” PMC funds enable clinicians and scientists to pursue innovative research that is not yet eligible for government or industry funding. PMC money could fund the next cures for cancer.

Register this January to become part of the #PMC2014 family and help make a difference for current and future cancer patients worldwide.

There is a lot riding on this!
