In 2008, Angus McQuilken, of Wellesley Hills, Mass., was diagnosed with colon-cancer.

Thanks to all of the doctors and nurses who cared for him first at Newton/Wellesley Hospital and then at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, this May will mark his fifth year cancer free and this August will mark his fifth consecutive ride in the Pan-Mass Challenge.

More than 80 PMCers from Newton and Newton mayor and fellow PMC rider Setti Warren got together for a PMC kick-off celebration at Newton City Hall yesterday. Joining Warren to honor Newton riders were PMC Founder and Executive Director Billy Starr, Vicki Kennedy, wife of the late Sen. Ted Kennedy, and Dr. Lee Nadler, senior vice president of Experimental Medicine at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. The event was held for Newton residents at Newton City Hall as a way to express gratitude to PMC supporters and participants.
