BOSTON, MA – (May 29, 2015) – John Hancock’s Louise I. Santosuosso has received the top award for Community Service from Manulife Financial Corporation, John Hancock’s parent company, a global financial services firm with more than 20,000 employees worldwide.
“We are very pleased that Louise has been recognized as a leader in community service,” said Tom Crohan, assistant vice president and counsel, Corporate Responsibility and Government Relations, John Hancock. “There is no denying that her efforts in support of this cause and organization have been tremendous and she truly deserves this honor.”
Santosuosso, an assistant vice president in Sponsorship and Event Marketing, was honored for her dedication and tireless work on behalf of the Pan-Mass Challenge in support of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, Massachusetts.
Since 2004, she has raised nearly $300,000 through the cycling event, earning her a place among the top fundraisers in an event that raises more money for charity than any other athletic event in the country. Through her efforts, Santosuosso has inspired others in the company to ride or volunteer and she now spearheads John Hancock’s corporate sponsorship of the Pan-Mass Challenge.
For this year’s Pan Mass Challenge, which will take place on August 1 and 2, she has increased her fundraising goal to $50,000 to mark her 50th birthday and includes her story on her personal fundraising page www.pmc.org/LS0135.
“Louise’s contributions to the Pan-Mass Challenge are invaluable,” says Billy Starr, Pan-Mass Challenge founder and executive director. “She is an inspiration to her fellow riders and her community at John Hancock. We thank Louise for taking the PMC mission to heart and helping us to fund life-saving breakthroughs in cancer research.”
Santosuosso, a North Reading, MA, resident and Topsfield, MA native, became involved with the Pan Mass Challenge and the Dana-Farber Cancer Insitute came from a personal experience when her father was stricken with and later passed away from cancer.
