Pan-Mass Challenge Cycles into the Wine Industry

192 Red Wine Blend to Benefit PMC Now Available

NEEDHAM, Mass June 18, 2015 – The Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) is pleased to introduce 192 Red Wine Blend, a premium Meritage named for the total mileage of the original PMC route from Sturbridge to Provincetown, Massachusetts. Produced by Trinchero Family Estates, one of Napa Valley's premiere wineries, the exclusive vintage will contribute a portion of the proceeds to the PMC, which donates 100 percent of every rider raised dollar to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through the Jimmy Fund in Boston.

Distributed by Martignetti Companies, the largest Wine and Spirits wholesaler in New England, 192 Red Wine Blend is a 2014 vintage crafted from premium Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot varietals sourced from iconic California appellations, including rugged mountain vineyards. TheMeritage is deep and rich, with resonant aromas of raspberry and spice, intense flavors of black cherry and berry with hints of chocolate and vanilla, and a full, lingering finish.

“We are thrilled to present 192 Red Wine Blend to wine enthusiasts and I am certainly confident that our constituency will be buying cases of 192 for their 2015 fundraising parties,” said Billy Starr, PMC Founder and Executive Director. “We are so fortunate to have dedicated partners like the Trinchero family and Martignetti that go above and beyond in their support of our mission.”

“We are excited to partner with the Pan-Mass Challenge in a unified goal to raise funds for the Dana Farber Institute through proceeds from our 192 Red Wine Blend,” said Wendy Nyberg, Trinchero Family Estates, Vice President Marketing. “Our winemaking team here at Trinchero are honored to craft a special release we know Massachusetts wine lovers will enjoy, but the fact it  gives back to such a worthy initiative makes this a very rewarding endeavor that we are all very proud to be a part of.”

The 192 Red Wine Blend is now available in Massachusetts and online at, retailing for $15.00 per bottle.

About the Pan-Mass Challenge

The Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) is an annual bike-a-thon that today raised more money for charity than any other single athletic fundraising event in the world. The PMC was founded in 1980 by Billy Starr, who remains the event’s executive director, an annual cyclist, and a fundraiser. The PMC has since raised $455 million for adult and pediatric patient care and cancer research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute through the Jimmy Fund. The event donates 100 percent of every rider-raised dollar directly to the cause. The PMC generates more than 50 percent of the Jimmy Fund’s annual revenue and is Dana-Farber’s single largest contributor. The PMC has successfully melded support from committed cyclists, volunteers, corporate sponsors and individual contributors. All are essential to the PMC's goal and model: to attain maximum fundraising efficiency while increasing its annual gift. The PMC’s hope and aspiration is to provide Dana-Farber's doctors and researchers with the necessary resources to discover cures for all cancers.
